RIPLEY - There's a new kid on the block! Cooney's Island Ice Cream truck can be seen on Main Street in Ripley most weekends, selling their delicious Addie's ice cream.

Tom Cooney, owner of Cooney's Island, has purchased the license to manufacture Addie's ice cream in this area. Addie's, owned and operated by Addie and Andrew Silbert, had been a fixture in Findlay Lake since 2009, first as a restaurant, then an ice cream store, before moving to Houghton, N.Y. in 2014.

Addie's ice cream is "homemade" right on the premises, in small batches to ensure quality with premium ingredients and sweet cream purchased from local dairy farms.

Besides the business in Findley Lake, Addie's ice cream is sold at Dutch Village in Clymer, as well as other local outlets.

Next spring, if all goes as planned, Cooney's Island will become a permanent fixture in Ripley at the site of the old O'Donnell's Bar on Main Street, where they will manufacture and sell their ice cream confections.
