Mayville Senior Citizens February 16
About 40 Senior Citizen met at the VFW in Mayville, NY on February 16. After the especially delicious lunch Bonnie Johnson opened the meeting. Dianne Goodrich told us two very funny jokes and read a poem entitled "Sounds of Love," followed by leading the Lord's Prayer.
Bonnie led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Secretary and Treasurer Reports were read and approved. A thank you card to the Mayville Senior Citizens, sent by Mary Mulholland, was read. Goodwill Chairperson, Mary Carlson, sent out several cards. The kitchen committee composed of Louise Richir, Dolly Gilbert, Wanda Gustafson and Bill Tornstrom was thanked for their service.
New member, James Dorr was welcomed as well as Leo Gladitz, guest. Fred Anderson and Jerry White won door prizes. We were entertained by the Witherow Country Band with good old country tunes!
Mayville Senior Citizens Meeting March 2
The Mayville Seniors met at the VFW at noon on March 2. After a delicious lunch the meeting was opened by Bonnie Johnson, President. Dianne Goodrich told two very funny tales, then a poem named "May the Lord Bless You Now and Always," followed by the Lord's Prayer. Bonnie led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Secretary and Treasurer reports were read and accepted.
Janet Loomis announced the Mayville Senior Trips for 2017 is now published! Our first trip is scheduled May 23, 2017 to Shea's Performing Arts Center, Buffalo, NY, to see Broadway sensation "Wicked!" Before the live performance, we will enjoy dinner at the Hamlin House in Buffalo. Cost for the trip for members is $145 and Non-members $147. Payment is due before April 20. The kitchen committee composed of Louise Richir, Joyce Ayer, Dolly Gilbert and Bill Tornstrom, were gratefully thanked! Bonnie welcomed new members, Eldon Auge, Leo Wilson and Mary Wilson. Ernestine Cruzado, Dianne Goodrich and Janet Loomis won door prizes.
John Cross, Numismatist, spoke to the group about coins, explaining their worth and what to look for when deciding to sell. He also brought several displays of various coins in his collection. Very informative and interesting!
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 16, at noon at the VFW in Mayville. Bring a dish to pass and your own place setting. We will be entertained by guest speaker, Mr. Dave Ward, Hartfield, NY. He will be talking about restoring the Tug-Boat "Little Toot" and getting it back in operation on Chautauqua Lake. It's a historical vessel from the past. Come join us!
