Many events, activities, contests, and much more will take place at the 2017 Presidents Day Weekend Winter Festival which will be held the weekend of Feb. 17 19 at Lakeside Park, Mayville. This year is the 30th anniversary of this long-held winter festival. Plan on joining us to celebrate this landmark.
As part of the festival, community events will also take place throughout the area. The Mayville Library, located at the corner of S. Erie and Evans Streets, will hold a Winter Book Sale on Friday, Feb. 17th from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 18th from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. The Lakeview Hotel, 13 Water St., Mayville, will feature music during festival weekend. On Friday, Feb. 17th the band Black Widow will perform beginning at 10 p.m. On Sat. Feb. 18th from 2 5 p.m. Bob Campbell and Liz Osborne will perform, as well as DJ Goodrich at the Lakeview that evening beginning at 10 p.m. On Sun. Feb. 19th Brian Moore will perform from 2 5 p.m.
The Mayville Merchants will hold special events during the weekend on Saturday and Sunday of the festival. Like on facebook for details on the participating businesses and events. The Portage Hill Art Gallery (located on Rt. 394, 2.5 mi. north of uptown Mayville) will again host special events this year. On Sat. Feb. 18th from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. and Sun. Feb. 19th from 12 5 p.m., they will be premiering a new winter block print, holding a drawing for one of the prints, as well as having past prints on sale. Also from 2 4 p.m. both days they will be serving hot fudge sundae tastings and hot mulled cider.
Chautauqua Miniatures (1 mi. north of Chautauqua Institution on Rt. 394) will have new markdowns in their special sale room, as well as reductions on some dollhouse kits on Sat. (11 a.m. 4 p.m.) and Sun. (12 4 p.m.) festival weekend. Webb's Cottage Collection (at Webb's Year Round Resort) is holding their winter sale (like on facebook for details), with additional specials during the festival weekend (10 a.m. 5 p.m.). Don't forget to get your entry forms for the new Festival Logo Scavenger Hunt, which involves our local retail Chamber member businesses. There is no cost to participate in this event, which will have cash prize drawing for all correctly completed entry forms, donated by event sponsor Northwest Savings Bank. See the forms for details. The scavenger hunt runs from Feb. 1 28, 2017. Don't forget about the Polar Plunge organized by Family Health Medical Services, taking place at the festival on Sat. Feb. 18th at noon.
