Yaw, Tenpas, Motherwell honored

Valedictorian Bridget Yaw is the daughter of Dennis and Kathy Sweatman. Bridget will attend Elmira College with an intended major in biology. After graduating from Elmira, Bridget plans to work internationally in the field of ecology and environmental sciences. Bridget is the National Honor Society President, Student Council vice president, and a member of Fellowship of Christian Students. Throughout her high school career, Bridget has spent much of her free time participating in sports. Bridget has been a member of the volleyball, basketball, and track and field teams at Sherman. Bridget has also volunteered as a coach for the younger children in the Saturday morning basketball program, a worker for the Adopt A Highway program, the Chautauqua County Humane Society, and for the Salvation Army Holiday Bell Ringing.

Salutatorian Morgan Motherwell is the daughter of Brad Motherwell and Pam Kindler. She will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall. Morgan will be majoring in biology. Morgan has served as the class of 2016's president for the past three years and is a member of the National Honor Society. Morgan often tutors students both in and out of the classroom. She is an active member of the National FFA Organization, and has held various chapter offices, and is a past New York State FFA District President. Morgan served as the Sherman High School Bowl team captain this year, and has participated in both track and volleyball since eighth grade. Morgan attends the Sherman First Baptist Church, and has been a part of Chautauqua County Footsteps.

Historian Katelyn Tenpas is the daughter of Bruce and Tammy Tenpas. Katelyn will be attending Daemen College and will be in a 5-year Physician Assistant program, where she will obtain her bachelor's and master's degrees. Over the past 4 years, Katelyn has been involved in track and field, cross country, basketball, band, student council, National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Students. In her senior year, Katelyn served as the president of FCS and the co-president of Student Council. Outside of school, Katelyn has participated in 4-H, youth group, Chautauqua County Footsteps, and volunteers for her church's nursery and Vacation Bible School.
