Westfield Wellness Walkers

Ten themed walks around Westfield plus one bonus walk on Aug. 21 of five miles for those who are up for the challenge. At the end of each walk there will be a drawing to win a TOPS gift card. Event will be held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. starting June 12 and ending Aug 21. Walkers will meet at the Westfield Family Physicians parking lot. Bring a Friend!!

Westfield Senior Citizens

Meets the second Thursday of each month at YWCA April through Sept. at 6 p.m. Oct. through March at Noon. No meeting in January. Bring a dish to pass and own table service. All senior citizens are Welcome over 50 yrs. Call 326-3576 for more information.

First Presbyterian Church Blast-Off

Wednesday, August 13 through Friday, August 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Free lunch provided). Open to kids Kindergarten through 5th grade. Ripley Community Appreciation Night

The Ripley Bicentennial Committee will host a Community Appreciation Night on the Ripley school lawn Friday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. Children's crafts and sing-a-long will start the evening. The evening will close with a movie outside on a large screen. Bring your lawn chairs and sleeping bags and come enjoy "The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones." In case of rain the event will be held inside the school in the small gym auditorium.

Bag Sale at Ripley Free Library

Bag sale starts August 16 at the Ripley Free Library! Thousands of books for people to choose from. The library will supply the bags and the sale will continue until August 23.

CCHS Speaker Presentation

Rochester-based historian and musician Mitzie Collins will give a presentation entitled "Historic Western New York State Hammered Dulcimers" on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Stanley Hose Company fire hall in Sherman. The presentation on will not only focus on the history of the hammered dulcimer and the various regional manufacturers that made the instrument, but Collins will also play music from some of the dulcimers in her collection. Anyone who happens to own a 19th century dulcimer is also encouraged to attend and bring their instrument with them, if possible. Bag Sale at Ripley Free Library

Today is the final day of the bag sale at the Ripley Free Library! Thousands of books for people to choose from.

Red Cross Blood Drive

On Saturday, August 23, members of the Red Cross will be at Cross Roads Farm & Craft Market drawing blood to help save lives. "We are happy to help this worthy cause, and we hope lots of folks come donate," said Stephanie Larson-Green, the Gypsy's Trinkets vendor who is organizing the event. "The Red Cross does so much for others. You just never know when you'll need their services." The event runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. People are eligible to donate blood every 56 days. Donors should be in general good health and feeling well, must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Cross Roads Farm & Craft Market, located at 6017 Westfield-Sherman Road (County Route 21), Westfield NY, is open 9-5 on Saturdays from the first Saturday in May until the last Saturday before Christmas.

Motor Coach Excursion

The Lake Shore Railway Historical Society, located in North East, Pa., will offer a motor coach excursion to the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugar Creek, Ohio on Aug. 2. The trip will include a stop at the Warthers Carving Museum, a buffet lunch and a guided tour of the roundhouse where a number of steam locomotives are on display. Before returning to Erie, travelers will visit the Harry London Chocolate Factory for a guided tour. The trip leaves at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $104 per person. Another trip is planned for a Sept. 13 visit to the trolley museum in Washington, Pa. That trip leaves at 8 a.m., at a cost of $94 per person. For details, contact Sid at (814) 899-1892.
