Adoptions have been a little slow this month; seems like some of the big dogs stay with us for a while. The little dogs generally come and go pretty quickly as do the puppies.
The bigger dogs are just as wonderful; Tucker, Buddy, Trudie and Harley all should get second looks - they are great dogs who just need to find their own special homes!
Pictured above is the most recent NCCR dog adoption poster.
Harley is the highlighted dog in the photo. He loves kids and would make a great addition to a family that is familiar with his breed mix.
Open House will be coming up Saturday Aug. 16 from noon - 3 p.m. We schedule the third Saturday of the month for Open House for people who can't stop by during our weekly open hours on Monday through Friday from 1 through 3 p.m.
Our Second Annual Doggone Good Yard and Bake Sale was a great success. Thank you to everyone who contributed or bought something! It took a lot of work to pull it off, and we certainly couldn't have done it without all the donations we received.
We will have a tent set up at the Fredonia Farm Festival the weekend of Aug.22-24 at the Barker Common in Fredonia. We will be fundraising for the shelter as well as highlighting the available dogs and encouraging people to become volunteers.
We are in desperate need of more volunteers who can commit to a minimum of two hours a week helping out. Volunteering can involve walking dogs, socializing puppies, mowing yards, or any number of other tasks that are a daily requirement at the shelter. So if you're at least 18 years old and can spare at least two hours a week to us, you will be rewarded with lots of dog kisses as thanks!
Mark your calendars, Sept. 6 at the United Methodist church in Westfield. We will be hosting a pancake breakfast. More details to follow on our website and Facebook page.
Spread the word about our shelter; we have really wonderful dogs looking for their "furever" homes!
