So often we take our fire safety for granted in our community. Why? Because we all know that when the fire whistle blows, someone is going to come! We don't really question it; we have come to expect it.
The brave men and women of the Fire Department of Westfield did just that on the very early morning of Wednesday, April 8, 2014. They responded to the report of FIRE at 41-43 Clinton St., "The Oaks Apartments," "the Yellow House" or whatever else it was known by.
The firefighters of Westfield and all their mutual aide companies that responded that morning should be met with accolades and thanks for the fine job they did containing that fire. My hat is off to each and every one of them. They worked tirelessly with great direction from their Chiefs and Officers. The actions taken by our firefighters, I believe, saved our property at 39 Clinton St. A special thank you to the firefighters who established the water wall between the properties and dedicated a hand line to keeping our property cool. At only about 10 feet away, our building suffered no melted siding!
I am proud of our Fire Department. I am proud of its firefighters, and I am proud to call Westfield our home.
Somehow thank you just doesn't seem to be enough. But that's all I can say; Thank you!!
Thank you to the Fire Department of Westfield and all of your colleagues for your hard work, your hours of training and your dedication to the safety of our community. And, thank you for saving our property!
