Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board 5K run/walk

Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board will be holding a Walk For Wellness 5K run/walk on Saturday, Sept. 14. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the event itself begins at 10 a.m. Participants will be meeting in the Westfield Memorial Hospital Lobby. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cardiac Rehab and Physical Therapy Depts. at WMH. Please call 716-326-3766 with any questions.

Monday, Sept. 16

Community tennis

Enjoy tennis every Monday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Meet at the courts behind Westfield Academy and Central School to play tennis. The plan is to have enough people to organize several double matches.

Westfield Wellness Walkers

Join the Westfield Family Physicians' Westfield Wellness Walkers for a themed walk around town. Weekly Tuesday evening walks with a theme will start at 6:30 p.m. from June 11 through Aug. 13 with rain date of Aug 20. Meet at WFP parking lot, 138 E. Main St. Walks will be 1.5 to 3 miles and are open to all ages and abilities. All participants will be entered into a weekly drawing. Each week will focus on a healthy theme with a take away tip.

Mayville T.O.P.S meeting

Mayville T.O.P.S NY 1337 meets every Tuesday at the Mayville United Methodist Church on South Erie St. Weigh in starts at 5 p.m., with program starting at 5:30 p.m. Join in to Take Off Pounds Sensibly with a great support group, fun contests and awards. Any questions, call 753-3419 or 386-6075.

Chautauqua County history series

Elements of Chautauqua County's early history will be explored in a special non-credit series offered Wednesdays, Sept. 4-18, at Jamestown Community College's Jamestown Campus.

Each session meets from 6-8 p.m. in the Carnahan Center. The fee is $59. To register, call JCC's Center for Continuing Education, 338-1005.

Public history, historical resources and the settlement of Chautauqua County will be outlined by presenters Jon Schmitz, Jon Martoni and county historian Michelle Henry. The series focuses on the first settler, the earliest years of settlement, the Holland Land Company and the formation of Chautauqua County's government.

The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Doggone Good Yard & Bake Sale

Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue will hold the Doggone Good Yard & Bake Sale on Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21 in the Learning Center at 7540 North Gale St, Westfield. The hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. This will be a BIG sale with something for everyone. NCCR is a no-kill shelter that helps the neediest dogs- the strays, the orphaned, the abandoned. This fundraiser will allow us to continue to help the dogs. Defensive driving in Brocton

The Ahira Hall Memorial Library at 37 W. Main St. in Brocton is sponsoring a defensive driving class on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the library. Cost to attend the class is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non AARP members payable by check only to AARP. Class size is limited so those interested in attending should call 792-9418 as soon as possible to register. Any licensed driver may take the class and receive an insurance reduction and possible point reduction.

The Hartfield Ladies Auxiliary will be having a "Christmas Arts & Crafts in October" On Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Hartfield Vol. Fire Co. on Elmwood Road in Hartfield, NY from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Fundraiser for Apple Seed Christian Preschool

Apple Seed Christian Preschool will be holding their annual 5K walk/run on Saturday Oct. 5. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins promptly at 9 a.m. The cost is $20 for pre-registration, $25 on the day of the race. Please contact 716-326-3110 for more information.

Murder Mystery Coming in October
