POMFRET - On August 14, 2013 at approximately 1:22pm Dusten Rader was operating a vehicle in a driveway on Glasgow Road and accidently struck a six year old child while backing his vehicle. The child suffered minor injuries to the foot and was treated at Brooks Hospital and released shortly after. No charges filed.
CHAUTAUQUA - On 08/13/2013 Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies investigated a motor vehicle accident involving 2 motor vehicles in the Town of Chautauqua. Investigation determined that the vehicle, driven by Gerry D. King was traveling westbound when he crossed the centerline and continued to travel westbound in the eastbound lane colliding head on with the oncoming eastbound motor vehicle, driven by Dorothy Desaulniers. Further investigation also found that Gerry D. King to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Westfield Memorial to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. King was issued traffic tickets for the above charges and will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
CHAUTAUQUA - On August 9th 2013 at approximately 8:15 AM while visiting Inmate Christian O. Opio at the Chautauqua County Jail, civilian visitor Maylee Nunez is alleged to have possessed and passed 7 (seven) Suboxone Strips to Inmate Opio after Officers observed her hand Opio an item in the visiting room of the County Jail. Opio & Nunez were both charged with Promoting Prison Contraband 1st Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, & Endangering the Welfare of a Child as Nunez had her 14 year old daughter with her at the time of the alleged offense. Both will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
CHAUTAUQUA - On August 14th 2013 at approximately 9:30 AM while visiting Inmate Ahren B. Morano at the Chautauqua County Jail, civilian visitor Charlene A. Vergith is alleged to have possessed and passed 10 (ten) Suboxone Strips to Inmate Morano after Officers observed her hand Morano an item in the visiting room of the County Jail. Vergith and Morano were both arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband 1st Degree, a class D Felony, & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
RIPLEY - On Saturday August 17th 2013 at about 11:30pm, Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on South State Street in the Town of Ripley. Upon stopping the vehicle, the operator was identified as Dennis T. Wade II, 36, of North East, PA. Further investigation into the incident found Wade to be intoxicated. It was also discovered that Wade's driving privileges in New York were revoked. Wade was charged with DWI, DWI Per Se .08 or higher BAC, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree, and Speed in Zone. Wade will appear in Town of Ripley court at a later date.
RIPLEY - On August 14, 2013 at about 10:15 pm Sheriff Deputies responded to Rt 5 in the Town of Ripley for a fight complaint. Upon arrival it was alleged that Samantha Travis 23 of Erie was involved in an altercation with another person. Travis was issued an appearance ticket for Harassment 2nd.
WESTFIELD - On August 16, 2013 at about 9:00 pm Sheriff's K9 and Westfield PD conducted a warrant check at 7816 North Portage St Westfield. Jonathan N Paddock II 29 of Westfield was located inside the residence. Paddock was wanted for Burglary 3rd and Grand Larceny 4th in the Town of Ripley. Paddock was brought to the Town of Ripley court where he was remanded to Chautauqua County Jail on $20,000 cash $40,000 bail.
WESTFIELD - On August 16, 2013 at about 8:00 pm Deputies and Westfield PD conducted a warrant check at 91 Jefferson St in the Village of Westfield. Brock D Tyrell was located at the residence. Tyrell was arrested on an outstanding Family Court Warrant. Following the arrest Westfield PD located a controlled substance on him. Tyrell was remanded to Chautauqua County Jail for the Family Court Warrant. Furthers charges are pending.
MAYVILLE - On the August 16th at about 10:05pm deputies were checking the area of North Erie St. in the Village of Mayville for youths in the roadway. The youths were located. A 17 year old male was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was issused appearance tickets and released.
