Leo L. Belknap

Leo L. Belknap of Bemus Point, N.Y., passed away March 20, 2013, at Heritage Green in Greenhurst, N.Y.

Leo was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Alberta, Canada. He served as a Naval Aviation Radioman stationed at USNAS Pensacola, Fla., where he began his love of flying. He was a private pilot for many years and enjoyed travel.

His greatest accomplishment was the founding of Belknap Business Forms, which began with one small printing press in the backroom of his home in Maple Springs, N.Y. His business grew far beyond his dreams into a well respected business forms manufacturing facility in Westfield, N.Y., employing many local people.

He also had a love of woodworking and built several homes in the Westfield area.

The family would like to give special thanks to Kathy Martin and the staff of Heritage Green Nursing and Rehab.

Surviving family members are his wife, Jane Belknap of Bemus Point; a son, Michael L. Belknap of Easley, S.C.; a daughter, Anita Bourgeois of Staunton, Va.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne Elsom in 2003.

A private graveside service will be held at a future date at Jersey Shore Memorial Cemetery, in Jersey Shore, Pa.

The family requests that any memorials be made to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to which he gave in memory of his daughter.
