WESTFIELD - Over the past few months, the Board of the Westfield Community Kitchen has been humbled and inspired by the outpouring of support from the community in a time of need.
The board would like to thank all the individuals, businesses and organizations that have donated money, goods or food. The kitchen has experienced an influx of new volunteers, and the ongoing hard work of existing volunteers, who come one day or more per week, week after week, year after year, continues to keep the kitchen running and bellies full.
Of course, there is always more to be done. Financial donations - or food or goods, call to inquire - are always needed and welcome. There is always a need for cooks, including prep cooks - no experience required. If interested, call Scott Brasted at 753-6926.
Since opening in 1993, the Kitchen has served over 200,000 meals to over 24,000 people. In 2012, it served 8,539 meals to 2,480 guests. The kitchen is open and serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays. Anyone needing a meal is welcome.
To the community - all those who have donated money, time, food or goods and especially to the staff and volunteers - the board wants to say thanks. None of this would be possible otherwise.
