MAYVILLE - The Mayville Library is hosting a series of spring gardening workshops presented by Chautauqua County Master Gardeners.
All workshops are free of charge and will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Mayville Library, 92 S. Erie St.
The schedule and topics are as follows:
Tuesday, March 12 - Native Plants for the Garden, Getting the Upper Hand on Invasive Plants and Resource Guide for Native Plant Selections
Tuesday, March 19 - Designing and Creating a Rain Garden and Water Garden
Tuesday, April 9 - Garden Photography and Creative Garden Projects
Tuesday, April 16 - Climate Friendly Gardening, Growing Great Greens and Edible Flowers and Herbs
Three years ago, the Master Gardeners conducting these workshops established a vegetable garden for the Mayville Food Pantry, planting, tending and harvesting vegetables for food pantry consumers. Community members are invited to visit or become a part of this worthwhile endeavor. Details will be available at the workshops as well as on display in the library.
The mission of the Chautauqua County Master Gardeners Program is to educate and serve the community, utilizing university and research based horticultural information. Master Gardeners have successfully completed 50-plus hours of Cornell approved training and volunteer a minimum of 50 hours per year.
