CSHOF to honor outstanding athletes and teams

JAMESTOWN - The Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame will honor 35 of Chautauqua County's top athletes and teams for achieving New York State championships, All-American status or All-State status in their respective sports at its 32nd annual Induction Dinner on Monday, Feb. 18 at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.

Local athletes who will be honored at the dinner include:

Nick Lenart, Panama Central School, basketball, New York State Class D First Team All-State

Dan Lictus, Clymer Central School, football, New York State Class D First Team All-State

The CSHOF Induction Banquet will begin with a hospitality session at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Inductees of the Class of 2013 are Ron Blackmer, Cal Cederquist, the late Jim Foti, Dan Palmer, Walt Thurnau and Jim Young.

The guest speaker will be Bruce Baumgartner, four-time Olympic medalist, nine-time World medalist and the most decorated wrestler in American history.

Tickets may be purchased at Matt's News on Third Street in Dunkirk, Fredonia Food Mart on Temple Street in Fredonia and Jamestown Cycle Shop on Harrison Street in Jamestown. Tickets can also be ordered from Chip Johnson at 485-6991. The price per ticket is $50. CSHOF members receive a $5 discount.
