Cub Scout Pack 126 from Mayville recently held its annual Pinewood Derby at Chautauqua Lake Central School. Scouts raced cars they created and watched other scouts’ cars. It was an opportunity to educate about good sportsmanship while cheering on their fellow scouts. Pack winners were: first place, Gabe Blaisdell, Webelos 2; second place, Isaac Tripp, Webelos 2; third place, Chris Breads, Bear.Den winners were: Tigers, Nolan Olson, first place; Jakob Parker, second place; Will Homan, third place. Wolves, Jonah Reyda, first place; Nic Webb, second place; and Evan Flurie, third place. Bears, Chris Breads, first place; Andrew Thompson, second place; and Austin Henry, third place. Webelos 1, Chris Stratton, first place; Noah Flurie, second place; and Jaedon Enos, third place. Webelos 2, Isaac Tripp, first place; Gabe Blaisdell, second place; and Brian Kayes, third place. An award was also given to Jack Whipple in the Webelos 1 division for the most original car and James Majewski, Webelos 1 division, for best in show.

Troop 126 Boy Scouts, Mayville, welcomed their Webelos II brothers from Pack 126 — bottom row — at the troop meeting held recently. Webelos II scouts will soon be crossing over to become official Boy Scouts at their Arrow of Light Ceremony planned for late February. Cub Scout Pack 126 of Mayville went to the annual Firemuster event held for Cub Scouts to increase awareness about fire safety and educate them on the EMS system and how it operates. Scouts get to climb inside fire trucks and ambulances, spray a fire hose, put on real fire equipment, climb a fire ladder and witness a controlled igniting and extinguishing of a vehicle fire. This is a yearly event with various locations hosting.
