NORTH HARMONY - A total of 21 members of the North Harmony Senior Citizens Club braved the weather on Monday, Jan. 21 to attend the first dinner meeting of 2013.
Earl Ferry greeted the group as its new president and led them in the Pledge of Allegiance. Gordon Saulsgiver asked for a blessing for the group and the food. Earl and Anita Ferry, Steve and Loretta Saulsgiver and Carol Davenport were the hosts for this gathering. Everything from kielbasa, chicken wings, German potato salad and casseroles made the meal a success.
Joyce Warner, who was completing her office as secretary after many years, read the minutes of the December 2012 meeting. She was happy to turn the big book over to her replacement Norman Czubaj. Anita Ferry gave the monthly financial report. There were no other reports due to the absence of the chairpersons.
Steve Saulsgiver described the three trips to Washington D.C., D-Day at Conneaut, Ohio and Belhurst/Seneca Lake Cruise. He indicated the three-day Washington trip was filling up fast.
President Ferry spent the remainder of the meeting describing new efforts under "2013 Functions of the Club Affairs." This is a process where all club activities, committees' memberships and volunteer efforts would be put to writing. This would be available to all present and future members in order to have knowledge of everything that goes on. This would be utilized to keep all functions going with the present club members and seek new volunteers for the various assignments. This will be discussed again at next month's meeting.
In addition, President Ferry told the group he would like to appoint an historical committee which would research all past members, activities and local history of the club. He also would like to appoint a Club Historian who would be responsible for recording the ongoing history of the North Harmony Senior Citizens Club.
Gift certificates were presented to past president Steve Saulsgiver and past secretary Joyce Warner for their many years of devoted service to the club.
The meeting closed with a prayer of thanksgiving and safe travel. The next meeting of the North Harmony Seniors will be held Monday, Feb. 18 at the Stow Center. Gordon and Patricia Saulsgiver and Joyce and Nyle Warner will be the host couples.
