Gary D. Nelson, 60, of Jamestown, formally of Falconer Kimball-Stand Rd., Falconer, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 in his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1952, in Jamestown the son of the late Dewey and Virginia Ahlgren Nelson.
Gary was a graduate of Falconer High School and a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering.

In earlier years he was employed by Blackstone Corporation, AMSCO-Excel and Dahlstrom Manufacturing and taught welding at BOCES. He was a member of the Thule Lodge, Falconer Rod and Gun Club and the Fluvanna Fire Department, Rescue 7, a supporter of the Safe Shooters and Anglers for Eternity and a member of the Ross Mill Church of Christ.
Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing, the outdoors and also enjoyed working at the annual Gerry Rodeo.
He is survived by his companion, Carol Schermerhorn of Ripley, N.Y.; three sisters, Trudy (Douglas) Howles of Rochester, N.Y., Suzanne (Frank) Clark of Denver, Colo., and Marlene Gibson, Saint Joseph, Mo.; three uncles, Rudy (Donna) Ahlgren of Jamestown, Richard (Elsie) Nelson of Bemus Point and Richard (Mary) Ahlgren of Michigan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral as Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m., in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Don Ray officiated. Friends were received by the family 5 to 8 p.m., on Monday and one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
