WESTFIELD - Nathan Horton, 27, of Pleasant Ave., Westfield and Johnathan Hudson, 26, of E. Main St., Westfield were each charged with second-degree criminal mischief and criminal liability for conduct of another for events which occurred on Monday, Jan. 7.
According to the sheriff's office, an investigation between the sheriff's office and the Westfield Police Department led to the arrest of Horton and Hudson for allegedly damaging vehicles located on a car sales lot in the Town of Westfield. Both Hudson and Horton allegedly entered a car sales lot and attempted to cut the catalytic converters off of two vehicles. Both Horton and Hudson were charged and warrants were issued for their arrests. Horton and Hudson turned themselves in to Westfield Town Court. Hudson was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail and Horton was released to family members. Both Horton and Hudson will appear back in court at a later date and time.
MINA - A multiple vehicle accident with injuries occurred on Monday, Jan. 21 on the I-86 westbound lanes.
According to the sheriff's office, the westbound lanes of Interstate 86 were closed down on for a few hours due to a multiple vehicle accident that occurred in the Town of Mina. Sheriff's deputies and New York State Police along with Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department members responded to the accident around 4:45 p.m. Low visibility and slippery roads are being blamed for the accident involving two tractor trailers, a delivery truck and a pickup truck. The operator of the pickup truck was transported to Hamot Medical Center for chest pains, but all others involved were treated at the scene and released. No charges are pending at this time.
SHERMAN - Charles M. Shaffer, 53, of Portland was issued a uniform traffic ticket for operating a snowmobile without insurance on Thursday, Jan. 24.
According to the sheriff's office, Shaffer was allegedly operating his 1994 SkiDoo northbound on Trail S 48 in Sherman. Shaffer allegedly told deputies the throttle stuck, and in attempt to get the snowmobile to stop he struck a large snow pile which ejected Shaffer from his snowmobile. The snowmobile allegedly continued through a parking lot, and it crossed Kendrick Street to where is finally came to rest after striking a house. Shaffer nor the occupants of the house were injured. Shaffer was issued a ticket and will appear in Sherman Town Court on a later date.
WESTFIELD - Cassandra Abbey, 54, of Ripley was charged with petit larceny on Saturday, Jan. 26.
According to the sheriff's office, it received a complaint of a female shoplifter from the Dollar General Store located at 7612 Route 20 in the Town of Westfield around 9:30 a.m. The female was allegedly detained and identified as Abbey. Abbey was charged, issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Westfield Town Court on a later date.
