WESTFIELD - On Sunday, Dec. 9, the Westfield Academy and Central School's varsity softball team held a fundraiser for new uniforms at the Westfield Moose Lodge.
Through the hard work of parents and players, along with generous donations from local establishments, the girls were able to reach their goal of $1,600 to pay for 20 new uniforms.
The "Souper" Sunday was an all-you-can-eat event of soup, salad, bread and football and seemed to be a big hit. Each parent made a special, homemade soup giving patrons a choice of over 20 different selections to please their palate.
Special thanks go out to the Moose for its use of the lodge and salad bar, Better Baked Foods for its donation of bread, local businesses for their donations of cash, Larry's Cantina, Chrissy Patek and executive chef Scott Bova for their individual soups and last, but not least, the patrons who supported the hard work given by the team and its parents. Thanks one and all for a successful event.
