WESTFIELD - Tyler E. Wright, 19, of Bird St., Westfield was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and improper left turn on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

According to the police office, it received information that there was debris from what allegedly appeared to have been a motor vehicle accident where a utility pole was struck on the corner of Academy and Grove Streets. Police were informed the vehicle was allegedly no longer there. Upon further investigation, the vehicle was allegedly located in a parking lot on Grove St., and the operator of the vehicle was allegedly no where to be found. Further investigation into the incident alleges Wright had been operating a 1999 Audi A4 and had attempted to turn left onto Grove St., from Academy St., when he struck the utility pole, causing substantial damage to the front end of the vehicle he was operating. Wright then allegedly fled from the scene and made it as far as a parking lot on Grove St., where he abandoned his vehicle. Upon completion of the investigation, Wright was issued a traffic ticket and will appear in Westfield Village Court on a later date to answer for the charges.
