Call it an early Christmas gift for business.
On Monday, Dec. 17 the proposed 45 percent New York state Thruway toll hike on trucks was rejected. Now, the authority must begin to look at cutting some costs.
Talk about an agency related to the state finally opening its eyes. Business is already aware of how unfriendly the state's ways can be. The Thruway's efforts to raise fees would have only added fuel to the fire, especially from those who have to ship goods here from out of state.
Cutting costs is a familiar phrase to governments, businesses and households. It is good to see one of the state's inflated authorities now doing the same thing.
