FORESTVILLE - A benefit basketball game for a local pediatric cancer patient is planned for Saturday, Dec. 8.
Aili Makuch, 16, is in a brave battle with this difficult disease and needs the help of the community. She is a Mayville resident and Chautauqua Lake Central School student. Aili is currently recovering from a major surgery and preparing for continued chemotherapy and radiation treatments. This is the most challenging time she and her loving family has ever experienced.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department will take on the Lakeview Shock Correction Officers at the 5:30 p.m. basketball game, held at Forestville High School. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children. A party will follow at the First Ward Falcon Club, with a Chinese auction and raffle. Prizes include a flat screen TV, "wheelbarrow of spirits," and 50/50.
This fundraiser will help the family to defray uninsured medical costs, assist with transportation and lodging in Buffalo from Chautauqua County, and other unexpected costs related to Aili's treatment.
To purchase tickets, call Bob Bankoski at 366-0141 or Scott Kowalski at 679-1550.
The benefit planners are reaching out to local business owners to request donations of goods or services which will be included in a basket raffle at this fundraising event. Any contribution is appreciated - no donation is too small. Upon request, a receipt for the tax deductible donation can be provided. Contact Neal Gruber at 680-0523 or Donna Zimpfer at 680-2966 to arrange for pickup of the donation at a time that is convenient.
