WESTFIELD - The Chautauqua County Vegetarian-Vegan Society will meet in November for "The Famous Vegetarian Thanksgiving Dinner."
This will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m., at the YWCA, 58 S. Portage St., Westfield. This is a planned meal at a cost of $10 per person, and prior reservations are required by Sunday, Nov. 11 or earlier.
The speaker for the evening program will be Tony Kozlowski, who will present a program on Qigong, Chinese yoga. This is a healthy and gently style of yoga, emphasizing deep breathing, stretching and relaxing. Anybody can do it, young or old, standing or sitting - there are no "pretzel" positions. Kozlowski has been practicing Qigong since the late 1970s. He learned it first on his own after studying martial arts, then he perfected his craft through working with many other teachers.
The menu for this meal will be catered by Chef Katie Rowan and will include tofu "turkey" casserole with gravy and stuffing, squash, green beans, mashed potatoes with rutabagas, salad, whole grain bread and pumpkin pie. All food will be vegan - no meat, eggs, milk, butter or other dairy products used in preparing it.
To make reservations, call Gail at 753-7761 during afternoons and weekends or 753-2205 during weekday evenings or Anne at 782-4334 or e-mail email@example.com.
All meetings are open to the public. Being vegan or vegetarian is not required to attend a meeting. It is open to anyone who is interested in learning about healthy eating and living. The Vegetarian Society is an information and support group for individuals seeking to explore healthy eating through vegetarian, vegan or raw food lifestyles.
