MAYVILLE - Mary B. Crandall, 68, of Hannum Road, Mayville, died Monday (March 14, 2011) in Westfield Memorial Hospital.
She was born October 1, 1942 in Westfield, the daughter of the late Paul and Jeanetta Hunt Beck.
Mary along with her family owned and operated J & T Quarter horse’s and Paint in Mayville, she had been the point secretary for the P.O.N.Y. Assoc. for 21 years, in earlier years she had been a waitress and cook for the Vineyard Restaurant in Dunkirk.
She belonged to the P.O.N.Y. Assoc., C.C.H.A., also the A.Q.H.A., she had formerly been a 4H leader, and she helped develop the 4H Acres in Stockton.
Mary loved her family, horses and dogs, especially her bulldog Bubba. She enjoyed showing horses, where she was known as a horse show mom with a real concern for all the children.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet L. Crandall of Mayville; and her son, Thomas P. Crandall of Mayville; one brother, John (Patricia) Beck of Mayville; two nieces, Julie Beck of Wellsville, and Linda Degolier of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard T. Crandall Jr. whom she married June 22, 1962 in Mayville, and who died November 30, 2001.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville. Rev. Mark Parsons of the Mayville United Methodist Church will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday in the funeral home.
