Chautauqua County Sheriff’s
n Logan M. Collins, 17, of Ripley, was arrested on May 12th for an incident that occurred at the Ripley High School on May 9th.
Collins allegedly sent a nude photograph of a male to his teacher at the high school and charges were requested.
He was charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree and will appear in court at a later date.
n Joseph B. Rizzo, 40, of East Main Street, North East, Pa., was arrested on May 10th on Route 20 in the Town of Ripley and charged with DWI, DWI Per Se, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, moving from a lane unsafely and failure to keep right.
A Deputy was on patrol eastbound on Route 20 in the Town of Ripley. The Deputy observed a vehicle eastbound cross the center line of the roadway as well as the white hazard markings multiple times. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Rizzo. Upon further investigation driver was found to be intoxicated and to have suspended driving privileges in New York State.
He will appear in court at a later date.
n Frederick W. McGuay, 49, of S. Mill Street, North East, Pa., was arrested on May 9th on Mechanic Street in the Town of Ripley and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.
Deputies observed an eastbound vehicle on Mechanic Street with an expired inspection sticker.
Upon further investigation, the driver was identified as McGuay.
McGuay was stopped by Deputies the night before and issued citations for having a suspended New York State driver’s license and an expired inspection. He was arraigned in the Town of Ripley Court and bail was set.
n The name of the teenager killed last Thursday after being hit by a train has been released.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, the victim is Kenneth S. Strang, 16, of Ripley.
Deputies said according to witnesses at the scene, the youth was one of a group of young people who were traveling south on Goodrich Street when a CSX train was approaching the crossing.
A number of youths crossed the tracks while the lights were flashing and bells were activated, the officer said.
The victim also attempted to cross the tracks but was struck by the train.
A 911 call alerted the Sheriff’s Department to the accident and officers responded to the scene along with Ripley Fire and Rescue personnel.
The victim was transported to Westfield Hospital where he died a short time later.
Westfield Police, CSX Police and the Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office assisted the Sheriff’s Department with the initial investigation.
