NEW YORK (AP) — Lady Gaga has taken yet another leap up the superstardom scale - with what she bills as the world's first flying dress.
On Sunday, the "Applause" singer unveiled a high-tech, white vehicle that lifted her up inside a mammoth building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a defunct shipyard developed for commercial use.
The contraption has six booms in a hex formation and is powered by batteries.
The 27-year-old New York entertainer said later that this was "maybe a small step for Volantis" — as she calls the metal dress — but "a big-time step" for Lady Gaga.
Her ultimate goal, she says, is to stage the first musical performance from space.
She spoke on the eve of the release on Monday of her third album, called "Artpop."
