NEW YORK (AP) — A 37-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in a broad daylight shooting near Battery Park in lower Manhattan that wounded a man and a female bystander.

Prosecutors said Thursday that Jason Wright was indicted on charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer who could provide comment.

Authorities say Wright and the male victim were selling tickets to ferry cruise tours in April when the two got into an argument. They say Wright pulled out a gun a fired a shot at the victim.

The shot missed and struck the bystander several feet away. He then fired another shot hitting the man in the chest before fleeing the scene busy with professionals and tourists.
