Jammers extend divisional lead
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Nothing kicks off an important late season homestand with a walk-off victory. The Jamestown Jammers won for the sixth straight game, improving to 6-0 since the all-star break, with a 7-6 victory over the State College Spikes at Diethrick Park in Jamestown. The Jammers pushed their New York-Penn League Pinckney Division lead to a game over the Batavia Muckdogs. The Jammers, the Single A affiliate of the Florida Marlins, remain in the division lead and winning the division would assure the franchise its first postseason appearance since the 2001 season. The Spikes kicked things off with a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Jamestown answered with a run in the bottom of the first. Kevin Mattison started the inning with a triple and scored on a Paul Gran groundout.
