Charlie Green Benefit

On Friday, February 19, a traditional “wedding-style” feast will be prepared and served by our friends and neighbors in the local Amish community to benefit Charlie Green. Charlie was seriously injured in a near-fatal farming accident on December 20. Donations for the Green Family will be taken at the door, and take-outs are available.  Reservations are appreciated at (716) 761-6012; (716) 761-6809; or (716) 761-6161; please leave a message if there is no answer. The Fire Hall is located on the corner of Miller and Park Streets, one block north of Main Street (Rt. 430) in Sherman.  Parking is available on the west side of the hall, and also at the high school parking lot on the corner of Willard and Park Streets, one block east of the Fire Hall.  Additionally, there is plenty of on-street parking throughout the village.

Dr. Spanos to speak at Ripley Library

Mark February 23rd on your calendars.  Dr. Mary Anne Spanos, from the Office of the Aging, will be speaking at the Ripley Library about health insurance counseling, discounts at local restaurants, including Meeder’s, for older citizens and information regarding other classes in the area.  The meeting begins at 1 p.m. and is open to senior citizens 55 years and older, and to those who care for them.

Westfield Little League Sign-Ups

WESTFIELD  LITTLE LEAGUE SIGN-UPS T-BALL, MINOR LEAGUE & MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL & SOFTBALL. For boys and girls ages 4-12 who live in Westfield, Ripley, Sherman and Mayville. There is also a new softball division this year. Westfield Little League will be starting a new age group for girl’s softball. Our plans our to attract more girls at a younger age and help them develop their skills. This year, we are looking to start an 8 and 9 year-old division. Registration date is February 23 and 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the Westfield Academy and Central School cafeteria. There is a $25 registration fee per child, and $45 for two kids or more in the same family.
